Triple vessel disease is an extreme form of coronary artery disease (CAD). Coronary artery disease develops when the major blood vessels supplying the heart come damaged or diseased. Shrine (cholesterol deposits) and inflammation are the two main causes of CAD.
Sign and symptoms:
- Chest pain or discomfort (angina).
- Weakness, light-headedness, nausea (feeling sick to your stomach), or a cold sweat.
- Pain or discomfort in the arms or shoulder.
- Shortness of breath.
Risks for coronary artery disease:
Overweight, physical inactivity, unhealthy eating, and smoking tobacco are threat factors for coronary artery disease (CAD). A family history of heart complaint also increases your threat for CAD, especially a family history of having heart complaint at an early age (50 or young).
If you have coronary artery disease (CAD), your health care team may suggest the following steps to help lower your risk for heart attack or worsening heart disease:
- Healthy diet
- Increasing physical activity
- Reaching a healthy weight
- Quitting smoking
